Abirateron en prednison toegevoegd aan androgeendeprivatie­therapie bij hormoongevoelig prostaatcarcinoom

De behandeling van patiënten met hormoongevoelig prostaatcarcinoom middels abirateron en prednison kan volgens de PASKWIL-criteria worden beoordeeld. ADT met een GnRH-agonist en dagelijks abirateron 1.000 mg met prednison 5 mg leidt tot een significante verlenging van de OS en PFS in vergelijking met ADT alleen. Het betreft hier de 3-jaars OS- en PFS-gegevens, omdat de mediane cijfers (nog) niet beschikbaar zijn. In een recent rapport van de commissie BOM3 is in een vergelijkbare populatie een vergelijkbare verlenging van OS en PFS gepresenteerd voor 6 kuren docetaxel, met kortere behandelduur en minder kosten. Met het oog op verantwoord medicatiegebruik is een voorkeur voor docetaxel in deze populatie dan ook goed te verdedigen.
